11 Students and Driver Injured in Bus Crash

Auto accidents are an unfortunate reality. Each day dozens of vehicles are involved in unexpected mishaps on freeways and streets all over the nation. Some are fender benders while others are more serious. However, it’s always harsher when the victims involved turn out to be children.

Eleven middle school students and the driver were hurt recently after a school bus slammed into a row of trees in Anaheim.

Local TV news broadcasts showed the Orange Unified School District bus damaged and awkwardly propped against a large tree. Anaheim police Lt. Bob Dunn said the driver and two children were taken to hospitals in critical condition while students who suffered less significant injuries were turned over to their guardians.

The school bus was transporting area students home from an extracurricular activity held at El Rancho Charter Middle School in Anaheim when the accident occurred. A witness said that the bus suddenly veered off the street while attempting a turn then hit a lamp post and finally the tree.

Authorities made no mention as to who, or what, was at fault after the accident. Fault may lie with the driver or even the school district for hiring the bus driver.
