Be Aware of More People on the Roads this Summer

downloadAfter a long winter, it seems everyone wants to get out and enjoy the warm weather and be out of doors. Beautiful, pleasant weather and temperatures means that more people are out and about enjoying the beaches and parks, going to sporting events and other festivals that are held outside.  More motorists, motorcyclists, bicyclists and pedestrians are out on the road and also enjoying the warm weather.

When you are driving, be on the lookout throughout the day for children who are out of school during the summer months and for those people who may be taking time off of work in order to take advantage of the warmer weather to do things.   People can easily get distracted or fatigued in the summer heat, so always be aware of your surroundings, whether you are driving, riding a bike or walking.

With more people being out, there comes an increased risk of getting into an accident. Hotter weather can also be hard on your vehicle and cause engines to overheat and you can be left by the side of the road. It is always a good idea to check the fluid levels in your engine and to check pressure in your vehicle’s tires.  Also, always be sure to travel with a spare tire and a container of coolant in your trunk in case of problems caused by the heat.
