Fourth of July Party Turns Violent

Many people celebrated on the Fourth of July without incident. People in our area had BBQs, cookouts and picnics. They ate good food, socialized with favorite people and watched amazing fireworks displays. Unfortunately, not every party ended on a positive note.

According to reports, two women were celebrating the holiday on North Duffy Street in the afternoon. Just after 5:00 p.m., the two women moved along down the street and the end result was a stabbing. One woman, for reasons currently unknown, stabbed the other.

The assailant in the case fled the scene. According to police Sgt. Christine Keil, the victim of the stabbing declined to describe her assailant to officers. Whether or not the victim and her attacker were friends or family was not immediately known. The condition of the victim was not released.
