Man Arrested for DUI After Hitting Car With Bicycle

No matter what kind of vehicle you drive, you can be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. It doesn’t even have to be motorized. That is what happened when Javier Cecena, 42, of Indio, took to the streets on his bicycle and caused an evening traffic collision.

The Coachella Police Department said in a statement that officers were sent to the site of a traffic collision involving a bicyclist and on Avenue 48 near Calhoun Street around 6:30 p.m. on Friday. According to them, Cecena was riding his bicycle while under the influence of alcohol. Cecena crossed Avenue 48 into the path of a motor vehicle, causing the accident.

No one in the other vehicle was injured in the crash. Cecena was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was later arrested and taken into custody and booked into Riverside County Jail.
