Man Drives Stolen Car Into Jeep

The accident occurred on Waterman Avenue close to Mill Street.

The Honda that the man was driving was reported stolen from Riverside the day before the accident. The driver, who remains unidentified, was traveling south on Waterman when he crossed over the center line. The man veered into oncoming traffic and struck a Jeep head-on. The man driving the Honda was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash that occurred around 7 a.m.

Waterman Avenue had to be closed due to the crash for several hours. Officers had to wait for the coroner to arrive and worked to complete their investigation before the road was reopened. A witness to the scene said that there was also a Goodwill truck parked nearby with minor rear-end damage. It was unknown if the Goodwill truck had been involved in the accident.

Officers were not sure what caused the accident, but it is known that the road was wet due to rains in the area.
