Orlando Shooting Affects Many in San Bernardino

The recent mass shooting in Orlando has brought back a flood of memories for many people in San Bernardino.

At a memorial established for victims of the San Bernardino terror attack, a rainbow flag was posted to show solidarity. Family members of the local victims showed their support and expressed concern for those victimized in Orlando.

“I have a gay son and I live here in San Bernardino and it happened to us,” said resident Beth-Ann Vasquez. Other family members of victims said that they understood what the people in Orlando were going through. The police department also said that they empathized with the police in Orlando.

San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan said, “They’re going to deal with this and process what they saw and what they experienced that day, not just the folks that were there, but everybody within that organization. As a chief, it’s kind of your responsibility, you got to watch out for everybody.”

The county’s Department of Heatlh tweeted, “We have several employees that are still hurting and hurting even more now because of this.”
