Police Cruiser Broadsided

downloadA man and a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy are recovering after the deputy’s cruiser was broadsided as he was assisting another deputy involved in a foot chase.

According to authorities, the incident happened just before 9:00 a.m. on Saturday when the deputy, whose name has not been released, was driving south on Del Rosa Avenue with his overhead lights and siren on. The deputy slowed in order to cross Highland Avenue.

The deputy was coming through the intersection with both lights and sirens on when he was broadsided by another vehicle driven by a driver, identified as Thomas Brannan, 51. Both Brannan and the sheriff’s deputy were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident is still currently under investigation.
