Police Use Stun Gun in Carjacking Accident

download (83)Police had to resort to using a stun gun on a man suspected of carjacking and evading arrest in an incident that has left three people injured. According to the Pomona police, Anthony Michael Epolito, 38, allegedly carjacked a Honda from a 55-year-old woman in the downtown area. Reports indicate that Epolito physically removed the woman from her car.  When he was spotted by police, he pulled over for the officers, but  then immediately took off.

Officers pursued the stolen vehicle and a police helicopter was also involved in the chase into a residential neighborhood in La Verne.  The suspect crashed the stolen Honda into other vehicles while heading southbound on B Street near the intersection of Bonita Avenue. Police caught up to Epolito, who resisted arrest. Police zapped Epolito with a stun gun and took him into custody.  He was later examined at an area hospital before being booked.

Three people were treated at the scene of the crash, with one being air lifted after complaining of chest trauma. Epolito is currently being held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles on $100,000 bond.
