A driver was cut by shattered glass after an unknown person fired shotgun pellets through his car window on the eastbound 60 Freeway not far from South El Monte.

When the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was summoned to investigate a report of shots fired, just under midnight. They could not find anyone who was injured. The California Highway patrol found a man whose windows were shot out. While he was not hit by any of the shotgun pellets, glass from his shattered window had cut him, inflicting minor injuries, according to a police lieutenant with LASD’s Temple City station.

The victim, a man in his early 20s, had no idea why he was attacked, the sergeant said. It may have been a case of road rage, because it didn’t seem to be related to gang activity.

The department had no further information on a possible suspect.
